1 You* are the salt of the earth.
2 You are the light of the world – like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see.
3 Don’t hide your light under a cover! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.
4 In the same way, everyone should know you by your acts of mercy, compassion and kindness. By doing this, they will recognize God in your life.

3 Happy are those who are in control of their thoughts and actions for they will inherit the earth.
4 Happy are those who are hungry and thirsty for justice for they will be satisfied.
5 Happy are those who are merciful, compassionate and kind for they will receive mercy, compassion and kindness.
6 Happy are those whose hearts are free from evil motivations for they shall fulfill the purpose of God.
7 Happy are those who work for peace for they shall be called the representatives of God.
